Sending to North America: timing and text
The two countries span eight time zones from Newfoundland (UTC-3:30 in winter) to Hawaii (UTC-10), and most of it moves its clocks forward in March and back in November. A reminder batch for the whole of the United States works best as several batches, one per zone, each with its own send_at.
Text written in plain English fits the GSM-7 alphabet at 160 characters per segment. Messages for French-speaking Quebec often carry é and è, which are part of GSM-7, while â, ê, î, ô, û and ç switch a text to Unicode, so the estimate endpoint is worth a call before a large French send.
